I remember the Beanie Baby craze!

It was such a fun trip down memory lane! I remember the Beanie craze and although I was not a crazed collector (I only own 6 Beanies to this day and only bought the ones I really liked because I liked them not becuase I thought they would be valuable) it was fun to look back.. the book has every Beanie as of 1998 in it, their poems, and their "projected" values! It is amazing to me what people spent on them... In spite of the craze the fact remains that Beanies are incredibly cute and after seeing all of them in this book there might be a few I will look for here on Amazon to add to my small collection. A great way to remember Beanies and look back on the fun that turned into a craze and then crashed like the Internet stock bubble! (An interesting book to go along with this one is called "The Great Beanie Baby Bubble" and that interesting book describes all that went on that led people to spend hundreds or thousands on Beanies and how the craze started, peaked, and then crashed suddenly. A good read!

I havent read the first couple of editions of this book but I found this one to come in handy. I collect Beanie Babies for my 8 year old neice and I use this book to keep track of the ones she has and the ones she desperatley wants!...I'm sure the prices are off a bit but who of you knows how much money a plush toy with a perfect tag will be in the year 2000!!?? Chill...The Authors are just estimating.
Of all the Beanie Babie books that I have seen out there, I feel that this book is the best and that it is funny and interesting. One thing I would do in the next addition would be to leave out all the extra fluff of games and food and just stick to the Beanie Babie stuff. Also, the authors might want to lighten up on all the family/self photograpghs....We want to see Beanie Babies...Not your family album!

Alot of people I know liked this book, and I do too. I have the 1997 and 1998 edition, and they were great! How can people not like it? I do agree, the retirements were way off, but I still enjoyed reading it! There is no reason for people to critizize the book because I would like to see them write their own book THEIR way! LOL! I love beanie babies, Me and my friends have been collecting for a long time. They are just so cute and adorable, you just fall in love with them! I can't wait for The fall 1998 edition to come out. It will have the new beanies in it and the newely retireds!!! I will definately love this book too!

Useful workbook for advanced students of calculus and linear algebra

This book is unique in its niche, as far as I know: While there are plenty of problem books for students taking first-year calculus, this book should provide a challenge to students at a graduate level. To give you a clearer idea of its contents, here is the chapter listing:

1. Basic Operations
2. Linear Equations
3. Determinants and Traces
4. Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors
5. Commutators and Anticommutators
6. Decomposition of Matrices
7. Functions of Matrices
8. Linear Differential Equations
9. Kronecker Product
10. Norms and Scalar Product
11. Groups and Matrices
12. Lie Algebra and Matrices
13. Graphs and Matrices

I would give this rich collection of problem 5-stars, but for my money I would have appreciated more detailed solutions. Also, the problems often use (standard) terms that the book has not defined, which can make it difficult to understand the problem being defined. A separate reference on each of the topics should be considered prerequisite.

Architecture Students interested in Data Viz

I am a student of GSAPP at Columbia University. I took a course taught by Professor Laura Kurgen and the studio she taught was Data Visualization. I bought this book to help me further my knowledge in data visualization, and the graphics are rich and amazing. As an architecture student, I am specifically looking to create beautiful and rich diagrams. This book is geared more towards designers such as graphic designers and architects and not for computer scientists or for those who are more interested in the mathematical computation and data analysis rather than the design of the visualizations.

This book versus Data Flow

This book was a more thinner but more collegiate versus of the Data Flow book. I prefer the Data Flow book. That one had more examples. This one was a bit more nerdy, more Tufte without being inspirational. For infographics I recommend Tufte books and Data Flow over this one. But this book has a great overview.

But a big Lima fan, I look forward to all his works.

Buy super glue too

My super smart son lost his book !! I bought this as a quick replacement. The binding had come undone, there was writing all in the book. I had to super glue the binding and tape the pages back together.
